PORT ANGELES –– “Undulations with Density” is an exhibition of organic industrialism sculptures by Portland, Ore., artist Brenda Mallory opening at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.
Mallory’s exhibit opens with a presentation by the artist tonight (Friday) at 5 followed by an artist reception at 5:30 at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The exhibition and related programs are free. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
Mallory molds beeswax-dipped cloths to form shapes she then affixes together with primitive hardware to, as she says, “reflect the ongoing interference on human activity on nature’s long-established systems.”
A native of the Oklahoma farm fields, Mallory completed a 10-week artist residency at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Colorado last year and is an MFA Mentor in the Applied Craft & Design Program at Pacific Northwest College of Art and Oregon College of Art & Craft.
