WEEKEND: Music, art abound in downtown Port Angeles tonight (Friday)

PORT ANGELES — A dance party and galleries awash in fresh art await in downtown Port Angeles tonight (Friday).

Here’s a sampling of the activities, all of which are free or under $5.

■ At Randolf Frederick Co., the upstairs studio open till 9 tonight in The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., the art of Joseph Fourbears is on display for the month of November. Fourbears, who grew up on the Omaha Reservation in Macy, Neb., has been an Army paratrooper, bartender, gold miner and commercial artist; he calls his artwork “evolutionary” as it continuously evolves.

■ The Heatherton Gallery in The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., has music by Stringology, refreshments, ocean-centric pastels by Irene Loghry and jewelry by Paulette Hill. This month’s guest artists include oil painter and silversmith Cherie Wilson and encaustic artist Terianne Stratton. They come together for the Heatherton’s free reception today from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.

■ Three Too Many, a rock and blues outfit favoring the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the White Stripes and the Black Keys, arrives tonight for the monthly Second Friday Art Rock party also known as 2FAR. The band — Mike and Barbara Maxwell, Jeff Clark, Jeff Anderson and Sharon Thompson — sets up at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., while artists Mike Pace and Jeff Tocher erect their easels for some music-fueled on-site painting. The cover charge for this 8 p.m. art and dance party is $3.
