PORT ANGELES — For the first time The Landing mall, with its spacious ground-floor atrium, is hosting the Sequim Arts Student Show, a celebration of young artists from all over Clallam County.
During the free Second Weekend art walk from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. Saturday, a public reception and awards ceremony will be held to honor the students at the Heatherton Gallery, inside The Landing mall at 115 E. Railroad Ave.
Prizes will be handed out at 6 p.m.; more about the exhibition, which stays on display through March, awaits at SequimArts.org.
The Sequim Arts Student Show opening is only one of the events during Saturday evening’s art walk. Here’s a sampling of the venues open from
5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
■ Studio Bob, the gallery upstairs at 118½ E. Front St., highlights the art of Doug Parent.
The Port Angeles painter will be on hand beside his landscapes, waterscapes and abstract canvases Saturday evening.
In addition to Saturday’s reception, Studio Bob will open Parent’s art show from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, while The Loom, the bar adjacent to the gallery, offers mimosas and brunch treats for purchase.
■ Harbor Art, 110 E. Railroad Ave., showcases fine art photography, with emphasis on waterfronts and sky, by Richard Kohler.
■ Cafe New Day, 102 W. Front St., is pairing dessert samples with a new show by photographer Eric Neurath.
■ Oven Spoonful, 110 E. First St., plans a reception for its artist of the month, Marianna Tomaz Greene, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, said Karen Long, co-owner of the restaurant.
Free appetizers will be served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., she said.
No host beer, wine and espresso will be available as well as the full food menu.
