PORT TOWNSEND — The Rose Theatre is soon to have a “Rendez-vous with French Cinema,” with the first of many film showings starting Saturday afternoon at the movie house at 235 Taylor St.
The “Rendez-vous,” a presentation of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Unifrance Films, this program “attests to the sheer variety and vitality of contemporary French filmmaking,” according to the Rose news release. The lineup includes key figures of France’s next New Wave, such as directors Sebastien Betbeder, Serge Bozon and Justine Triet.

■ “Age of Panic” (“La Bataille De Solferino”): During a time of great political change, a frazzled young mother tries to keep it together on the home front in this Justine Triet picture, a mix of comedy and documentary-style energy. Showtime: noon Saturday.
■ “2 Autumns, 3 Winters” (“2 Automnes, 3 Hivers”): Arman is 33 and ready to make a change, starting with a run in the park. When he literally bumps into Amelie, he’s dead-set on making a connection with her. ■ “Under the Rainbow” (“Au Bout Du Conte”): The arrival of Prince Charming in a young woman’s life is complicated by a very different — but equally alluring —man in this contemporary fairy tale with twists and sharp existential humor.
