PORT TOWNSEND — Joey Pipia, Port Townsend’s peripatetic magician and self-described “delusionist,” is about to retake the stage with something he calls HeadTrip: the Mind Magic Show.
With daughter Phina Pipia, a performing artist and mind reader in her own right, Joey will guide his audience through what he deems “a one-act journey through the depths of the mind.” It’s a one-night-only show at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Chameleon Theater, with tickets on sale for $20 at www.brownpapertickets.com. If any are left, seats will be $20 at the door Saturday night at the Chameleon, 800 W. Park Ave.
“In HeadTrip, what you see is more than magic,” says Joey.
Audience members may well witness the changing of minds.
Also on the agenda: two vignettes straight out of classic vaudeville mind theater. And while the Pipias have toured widely with these two works, Saturday’s show marks their Port Townsend debut.
Phina is known to local audiences for her work with the music duo the Pipia Sisters and beyond the Olympic Peninsula for her performances with the Generation Goat Rocket theater company. Her father, besides his performances in Port Townsend, brings his magic and illusion to Seattle’s Moisture Festival, to the Oregon Country Fair and to stages across the country with the New Old Time Chautauqua.
