PORT ANGELES — Dragsters with fireoffs will do their stuff for the first time in Port Angeles during the Peninsula Dream Machines’ inaugural Volunteer Hospice Cruz-In on Saturday, organizers say.
The Cruz-In will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Puerto de Angeles restaurant, 940 E. First St., Port Angeles.
Spectator admission for adults will be $3, with children younger than 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Vehicle admission is $20.
The first 100 vehicles — hot rods, customs, classics and bikes — registered will receive goodie bags, raffle tickets and admission for drivers and passengers to the dragster fireoffs.
Eighteen Award Picks will be given out during the show.
More than 80 raffle prizes are planned. They will include a hot rod pedal car and gift certificates.
Participants do not have to be present to win the raffle.
All proceeds raised at the event will go to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
The featured drivers include Doss Clayton and King, “Kansas” John Wiebe, Jerry “The King” Ruth, Jerry King and 45 Bob Thomas.
Ruth earned three divisional funny car titles, eight divisional top fuel titles — including seven in a row from 1968-74 — and the top fuel world title. Ruth also was the first driver to win both funny car and top fuel finals at the same event, a feat he accomplished four times.
