PORT ANGELES — Face painting for grown-ups, original songs, ugly Christmas sweaters — that’s only the beginning of December’s Second Weekend art festivities in downtown Port Angeles.
Tonight through Sunday, live music, art workshops and fresh paint await those who venture forth.
Here’s the menu.
— Tonight at the Landing Art Gallery inside The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., painter Hazelle Hout hosts an opening reception for her display of floral images.
During the party from 5 p.m. till
8 p.m., singer-songwriter Howly Slim will play his original music and Smuggler’s Landing will provide refreshments.
— Black-and-white landscape photography by Robert Reed adorns Oven Spoonful, 110 E. First St., this month, and an artist’s reception is open today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Admission is free while Oven Spoonful will offer its special paella for purchase.
— Tonight at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., artist Jeff Tocher and the band FarmStrong are hosting a Christmas painting party for the 21-and-older crowd.
From 8 p.m. till midnight, face painting, Santa Claus headgear and hideous holiday sweaters will come together as Tocher puts on a participatory art night. FarmStrong, an Americana-old-time-country foursome, plays all the while.
The cover charge is $3, or $2 for those who bring a nonperishable food donation.
— Roma Peters, aka Hawaii Amor, will sing and play ukulele from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elliott’s Antique Emporium, 135 E. First St.; the music is free for all passers-by.
— Make Your Own Art, a weekend-long event at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., is for children, teens and adults to enjoy a variety of art activities — from cards to paintings — plus refreshments and photos with a young Santa Claus.
Each activity costs $1 including art supplies during the two-session party: from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
— Harbor Art, 110 E. Railroad Ave., features prints on handmade papers and slate by Randy Radock this month.
A reception with the artist will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
— The Peninsula College Welding Club will mount a display on the Harbor Art deck at 110 E. Railroad Ave. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Handmade metal art works of various sizes, and prices await visitors.
