Annual quilt show
SEQUIM — Sunbonnet Sue’s annual quilt show will be held at Sequim Middle School, 301 W. Hendrickson Road today through Sunday.
The show will start at 10 a.m. each day.
Admission is a suggested donation of $5.
Many new and antique quilts will be on display. Demonstrations and door prizes are planned. The featured quilter this year is Betty Cook.

Art Jam
SEQUIM — The first Art Jam art show and sale will be held at Rock Hollow Arts, 505 E. Silberhorn Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday as well as from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Ten artists from the North Olympic Peninsula will show their work.
Visitors will get the opportunity to pick up a brush and work on the group’s community mural.
There also will be a book signing. Cynthia Thomas, one of the Art Jam artists, has written On the Journey: The Art of Living with Breast Cancer.
Thomas shares some of her daily experiences and emotions, including diagnosis, treatment and the use of art and journaling as a means to wellness.

‘Final Adventure’
SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Art’s whodunnit production of “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure” will be performed for its second weekend.
The show starts up at 7:30 tonight and Saturday night and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the theater at 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Tickets are $16 for general seating, $14 for active military and $10 for youths ages 16 and younger. They can be purchased at the door or online at www.olympictheatrearts.org.
In the play, Sherlock Holmes, portrayed by Edwin Joseph Anderson III, is looking forward to retirement when he is called by the King of Bohemia, played by Carl Honore, to recover a photograph and foil a blackmail scheme.
Tom Darter plays Dr. Watson and Keith Curtis portrays Professor Jim Moriarty in this semi-musical adaptation of the 1899 play by William Gilette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Nikki Adams’ opera singer Irene Adler provides the love interest.

Driftwood fantasies
SEQUIM –– A twisted dreamscape of molded driftwood will be unveiled as the Olympic Driftwood Sculptors present “Fantasia,” the club’s sixth annual Lavender Weekend Driftwood Show, this weekend.
Featuring more than 150 sculptures on exhibit, the show will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday in the Sequim Middle School cafeteria, 301 W. Hendrickson Road.
Admission is free.
Sculptors will be on site working on their creations and answering questions about them.
Hand-crafted driftwood pendants and other accessories will be for sale.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for a chance to win a driftwood sculpture created by several club members.

Farmers market
SEQUIM — The Sequim Farmers Market, usually a one-day event each week, will offer goods and produce for two days during Sequim Lavender Weekend.
The market will open at 9 a.m. each day at 104 E. Washington St. and go on all day.
Live music Saturday will be performed by Howly and Sandy.
Bird walk
SEQUIM — The Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park will host a special bird walk in honor of Lavender Weekend.
Bob Boekelheide will host the walk through Railroad Bridge Park at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
The walk is free and open to all.
It will begin at the Audubon center at the park at 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.
Puffin sunset cruises
SEQUIM — Two dinner cruises will take travelers around Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge to view tufted puffins, rhinoceros auklets and other birds at dusk.
The cruises leave from John Wayne Marina at 7 p.m. and return from their trips around the island at the mouth of Discovery Bay by 9 tonight and Saturday night.
The cost is $75 per person per trip.
Proceeds will benefit the Dungeness River Audubon Center and Railroad Bridge Park.

Coil basket workshop
SEQUIM — A lavender coil basket workshop is planned at the LARC Gallery at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The workshop will be with Shannon Goose and Victoria Reddick at the gallery at 425 E. Washington, Suite 1.
Artists will demonstrate how to use lavender to create a coil basket to take home.

Block print artists
SEQUIM — Block print artists Randy and Sallie Radock will host a public open studio today and Saturday.
The studio at 1021 N. Littlejohn Way, Sherwood Village, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Block printing demonstrations and an art exhibit are planned.
Paint a scarf
SEQUIM –– Multimedia artist Renne Brock-Richmond will help people paint neckwear this weekend at a make-and-take silk scarf painting camp at Purple Haze Lavender Farm, 180 Bell Bottom Road.
Brock-Richmond will be at the farm, on the Sequim Lavender Farm Tour, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Sunday with silks, paints and baubles available for $25 to anyone interested in bedecking a scarf.
Jazz in the Alley
SEQUIM –– Tracy Blume and her band Jazz in Blume will be back to perform at the eighth annual Jazz in the Alley on Saturday.
The band will play in the parking lot behind the BrokersGroup Real Estate Professionals, 219 W. Washington St.
Along with Gert Wiitala on piano, Ted Enderle on bass and Tom Svornich on drums, Blume will sing a free set with for-purchase catered food and a wine bar in the alley from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Kitsap author reads
SEQUIM — Kitsap County author Kate Breslin will read excerpts from her debut WWII novel, For Such a Time, throughout the weekend at Sunshine Herb & Lavender Farm, 274154 U.S. Highway 101.
The romance between a Nazi officer and a Jewish woman he freed is set in the winter of 1944 in Theresienstadt — the notorious Nazi transit camp for prisoners ultimately destined for Auschwitz.
Breslin’s book was published in April by Bethany House and is available in bookstores or online at http://tinyurl.com/PDN-lavauthor.

SEQUIM — Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., will offer live music tonight and Saturday night.
The Olympic Jazz Trio, with Taylor Ackley, Craig Buhler and Al Harris, will perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
The Skip Morris Trio of Port Townsend will play jazz from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
