WEEKEND: Comedy trio at 7 Cedars this Sunday night

BLYN — In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Pow Wow Comedy Jam will bring comedians Vaughn Eaglebear (Colville-Lakota), Marc Yaffee (Aztec-Navajo) and Howie Miller (Paw Band Cree) to 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, this Sunday night.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door for the 7 p.m. show, at BrownPaperTickets.com and at the casino’s Totem Rewards Club counter.

The Pow Wow Comedy Jam performers were named the Indian Gaming Association’s Entertainers of the Year in 2010, and their CD, “Phase Three,” was chosen as Comedy Album of the Year at 2012’s North American Indigenous Image Awards.

As a group, Pow Wow Comedy Jam has entertained at casinos, clubs and colleges including the Bellagio in Las Vegas and the Hollywood Improv. As solo comedians, they have performed for audiences from Iraq to Alaska.

“We believe that laughter is medicine,” said Yaffee.

“If we can bring together Indians and non-Indians for a night of comedy that will give them a break from the stress of daily life, then we have done our job.”
