SEQUIM — Get ready, Sequim: That’s the message from Tana Villella, presenter of “Bosom Buddies,” a night of burlesque, cabaret, comedy and drag — 14 acts in all — at the Krush lounge.
“Throw on something pink and join us,” Villella adds.
The show, starring members of Miss Indigo’s Academy of Burlesque in Seattle, will begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Krush, the venue at the intersection of Old Olympic Highway and Sequim-Dungeness Way. Tickets are $10 at www.BrownPaperTickets.com, and any remaining will be sold at the door.
Performers coming from out of town include Ms. Violet DeVille, Candy Apples, Dahlia Ste. Cyr and Marcus DeBoyz, while Villella promises “local artists, dancers and persons of interest” will also appear.
Rondo Barracuda and Salmonella Riviere will serve as masters of ceremonies, and dancers and burlesque artists Noxious Oxalis, Miss Red, Merryn Welch, Boobs McGeek, Matty Circus and Brandon Christensen are slated along with performance painter Jeff Tocher.
Proceeds from “Bosom Buddies” will benefit Olympic Peninsula cancer support organizations, Villella notes, adding that the party is about bringing community members together.
“This event is meant to break down the barriers of race, gender, tax brackets and social standing, to unite us all in the fight against cancer,” she declares.
“It is also to send a message of self-acceptance, tolerance and breaking free from the things that hold us back.”
An auction for a “pin-up” photo shoot with Mac makeup artist Jenny Vicious, with costuming and hairstyling, chocolates and wine will also be part of Saturday’s festivities. After the burlesque and performance art show, DjCj will play dance-driving music from every decade, Villella says.
