Port Angeles’ Lincoln Park reopens after windstorm damage cleared
PORT ANGELES – Lincoln Park is open once again following an extended closure to clean up from the Dec. 15 windstorm.
“The problem was mainly tree limbs and some hanging limbs we needed to get down plus a couple downed trees.”
The 47-acre park along Lauridsen Boulevard on the city’s west side was closed to vehicular traffic following a windstorm.
Lincoln Park also suffered flooding from the recent storms, which usually happens every winter, Delikat said.
Port Angeles Public Works Director Glen Cutler estimated total damage to city-owned facilities at $90,000, the Peninsula Daily News reported on Monday.
That included about $25,000 for cleaning up debris from streets and parks.
Infrastructure damage included fences at Erickson and Civic Field Stadium damaged by falling trees.
Seven trees at Erickson Playfield, located at Fourth and Race streets, were blown over and uprooted in the storm, Delikat said.
Tree limbs littered the ground at Jessie Webster Park at Third and Eunice streets, he said.
