CLALLAM BAY — A water transmission main serving Clallam Bay has broken and all customers east of the Breakwater Inn are without water.
The Clallam County Public Utility District said that the rupture does not affect Sekiu or the Clallam Bay Correctional Facility.
The PUD said it hopes to get temporary water service restored by 5 p.m.
After service is restored, the state Department of Health recommends that Clallam Bay residents boil their tap water or use bottled water for cooking, drinking, making ice and brushing teeth.
Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute to kill germs.
The PUD said it also is important to conserve water.
“The health advisory will remain in effect until further notice,” PUD spokesman Michael Howe said.
“We will do our best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
For updates on the break, customers can check the PUD website at www.clallampud.net or phone 360-452-9771 or 800-542-7859.
