OLYMPIA — The website for Washington’s health insurance exchange is working again.

The site was shut down for a day because of problems at the Washington Department of Social and Health Services.

Because of the DSHS issues, the health insurance website could not determine whether people are eligible for free or reduced-cost insurance.

The Washington Healthplan Finder was off line from Monday morning to Tuesday morning.

The site was also closed for about four days last week because of unrelated technical problems.

Washington residents have until Dec. 23 to sign up and pay for health insurance through the exchange if they want to be insured on Jan. 1.

Uninsured people have until the end of March to enroll in some kind of health insurance to avoid paying a fine when they file their federal income taxes in early 2015.
