Wanted man plants pickup into gas station after run from the law

SEQUIM –– A Port Angeles man wanted for a string of burglaries crashed his pickup into Kettel’s 76 Station to end a 74-second run from the police.

Daniel R. Davis, 43, was booked into Clallam County jail Monday night for investigation of a slate of crimes after he led deputies and Sequim police officers on chase through downtown Sequim.

The chase ended at 6:25 p.m. when he planted his white Chevrolet S-10 pickup into the gas station’s diesel pump.

He is now being held in jail without bond for investigation of eluding police and driving with a suspended license, two prior counts of second degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron reported this morning that officers had a probable-cause alert for Davis, who is wanted by Port Angeles police for allegedly possessing stolen property.

Davis took off after Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Knutson attempted to pull him over on West Washington St. Cameron said Davis then turned south onto Sequim Avenue and proceeded westbound in the south Washington Street alley.

Davis then turned onto Bell Street, where he allegedly ran several stop signs and circled back onto West Washington. After Sequim police joined the chase, Davis missed a left turn onto Second Avenue and careened out of control into the Kettel’s station.

His pickup clipped the diesel pump at island 7 before crashing into the support post in the middle of the island.

Davis was inspected by paramedics, Cameron said, who treated a minor head injury before releasing him to police custody.

A dog riding in the pickup was turned over to Davis’ girlfriend, Cameron said.
