PORT ANGELES — A Walgreens Drug Store could be coming to Port Angeles but not until 2008, if the sale goes through.
The store would be at 934 E. Front St., at the southeast corner of Front and Race streets, according to a state Environmental Policy Act checklist filed with the state Department of Ecology.
The property, which has been owned since 1972 by the Irvin family of Sequim, currently has a 3,450-square-foot one-story building that is occupied by a John L. Scott Real Estate office.
“The (John L. Scott Real Estate) employees are aware a sale is pending,” said Jim Irvin on Wednesday.
“Walgreens contacted us last May and we’re still negotiating.
“It’s not through escrow, so it probably will be at least the first of the year.”
The development by SE Grainger Development Group LLC of Mercer Island would include a Walgreens Drug Store building with a single drive-through window and parking for 52 vehicles, according to the environmental analysis.
Officials from the development company were not available for comment.
Walgreens’ real estate department confirmed the proposed development, according to Carol Hively, Walgreens corporate spokeswoman in Chicago.
But Port Angeles Planning Manager Sue Roberds said company officials aren’t planning to build the building until 2008.
