PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Auditor’s Office had received 8,753 general election ballots as of Wednesday.
That’s 42 percent of the 20,954 ballots sent out to Jefferson County registered voters, said Auditor Donna M. Eldridge.
About 34 percent of Clallam County ballots are ready to count.
Of the ballots received, 51 are being challenged for either lack of signatures or because they include a signature that does not appear to match the one on file at the Auditor’s Office.
Ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 7 to count in the all-mail election.
Voters can also hand-deliver their ballots to the drop box behind the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, or hand them directly to the Auditor’s Office on the first floor of the county courthouse building.
