Volunteers sought for Port Angeles boards

PORT ANGELES — The city of Port Angeles is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on several volunteer boards and commissions.

• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee: Four seats — one representative of a business required to collect lodging taxes, one representative of an activity authorized to receive funds from lodging taxes and two members at-large.

The committee makes recommendations to the city council on activities and facilities to be funded by lodging excise tax revenues.

Members serve for two-year terms and meet on an as-needed basis.

• Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission: One member at-large and two student positions.

The commission advises the Parks and Recreation director and assists in resolving complaints arising from departmental programs or facilities.

The commissioners serve four-year terms and meet at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

• Planning Commission: One at-large member.

The commission reviews and makes recommendations to the city council on amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan and land use map.

Members serve four-year terms and meet at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

• Public Safety Advisory Board: Three seats — one student representative of the Port Angeles School District, one enrolled tribal member and one member at-large.

The board makes recommendations to the city manager, chief of police and fire chief concerning the provision of public safety services within the city.

Members serve four-year terms, except for student members, who serve a one-year term, and meet at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

Applications can be picked up in person at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., or downloaded from www.cityofpa.us.
