PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioners have awarded the bid for the Village Lane sewer main extension project.
The bid, approved unanimously on Tuesday, went to C & J Excavating, Inc. of Carlsborg for $198,954.40.
The only other bid was from Seton Construction Inc. of Port Townsend for $271,382.71. The engineer’s estimate was $237,980.61.
The project will extend the sewer main from the last manhole adjacent to the Olympic Discovery Trail south to the northern property boundary of the Greywolf Village subdivision.
Work is expected to begin in August.
The extension is part of the Carlsborg sewer project.
The original $9.22 million project began in April 2016 and was deemed “substantially complete” prior to an April 2017 deadline to obtain a 0.25 percent interest rate on the $10 million state Public Works Trust Fund loan.
The project allows water to travel through piping from the Carlsborg pump station to the city of Sequim via the Dungeness River Bridge over U.S. Highway 101 to a collection system at Grant Road and be sent to Sequim’s Water Reclamation Facility.
