PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Police Department is urging people to be alert after a string of four burglaries hit two businesses and two residences Thursday night.
“It appears that at least three of the burglaries were committed by the same person,” Sgt. Barb McFall said Sunday.
Businesses hit included the Athlete’s Choice store at 215 W. First St. and the Olympic Lodge at 140 DelGuzzi Drive.
The two residential burglaries took place on the 1300 block of West 11th Street and the 500 block of East Seventh Street.
One of the burglaries may have taken place earlier in the week, she said.
In one of the residential burglaries, the suspect was interrupted by a neighbor who observed a suspicious vehicle and flashlights in the backyard, McFall said.
In three of the burglaries, the stolen items were lawn and garden equipment, said Officer Dan Morse.
In those, the thieves hit backyard garden sheds and the back door of a business, Morse said.
PAPD urged residents to be alert for suspicious persons, vehicles or activities in their neighborhoods, and to phone 9-1-1 promptly if something is out of place.
Residents were cautioned to avoid confronting suspicious persons and to keep their vehicle and residence doors locked at all times.
They should provide as much information as possible to 9-1-1 dispatchers.
