MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST AND graphic artist Nina Jurczynski talks with artist and metal sculptor Tom Jay at the Lateral Line Bronze Casting Studio in Chimacum during last weekend’s 2011 Art Port Townsend Studio Tour.
Jay talks about becoming an artist and living in the Pacific Northwest. During Tom’s Sunday demonstration, Studio Tour participants were able to watch the bronze casting process.
Jay and his wife, Sara Mall Johani, are artists with a combined experience of more than 60 years.
Their Lateral Line studio is a sculpting/teaching facility.
Jay and Johani have more than 30 public sculptures in the region as well as in numerous private collections.
They teach a complete sculpture/bronze casting course — “Sculpture Revealed” — to both beginners and professional artists.
