JOHN GUSSMAN — the Sequim-based cinematographer who documented the $325 million Elwha River restoration/dam removal project — has shared “A Winter’s Day,” a 3-minute video of our rainy — and beautiful — North Olympic Peninsula.
“Rather than stay home on a rainy day, I decided to go embrace the weather and shoot some stock video at two of my favorite locations on the Peninsula,” says Gussman.
“Lake Crescent was in a very calm, serene mood while at the same time Rialto Beach on the coast was in full fury. Two very different moods of mother nature. (NOTE: If the video starts to jerk, turn off blue HD letter on bottom right of player).”

Gussman is co-director with Jessica Plumb (of Port Townsend) of the prize-winning “Return of the River.” The film tells the history of the Elwha River, the decades-long efforts to remove its Elwha and Glines Canyon dams, and the restoration efforts to bring salmon runs back to the southern 70 miles of the river.
