VICTORIA — The provincial capital and its Canadian Navy base in an adjoining harbor will welcome thousands of international sailors, tourists and dignitaries starting Wednesday for a five-day party to celebrate the navy’s 100th anniversary.
Over the past week, Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, about two miles west of Inner Harbour, has been abuzz with last-minute preparations for the Canadian Naval Centennial Pacific Fleet Review, which runs from Wednesday to Sunday.
The biggest ship will be the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan from San Diego.

For North Olympic Peninsula residents wanting to view the festivities, the MV Coho ferry first leaves Port Angeles at 8:20 a.m. with arrival around 9:30 a.m. The Coho’s final departure from Victoria is 7:30 p.m.
The faster passenger ferry Victoria Express departs Port Angeles only on Friday through Sunday at 8:10 a.m., arriving about an hour later. Its final departure from Victoria on those days is 6:15 p.m.
Taxis and transit to the Esquimalt area is available on Belleville Street near the ferry terminals.
