PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center hosts several free support groups and advance care planning sessions that are open to the public.
The center hosts a Diabetes Support group that meets at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Seasons Cafe at Olympic Memorial Hospital, 939 Caroline St.
Matt Fineout, the hospital’s chef, will present “Preparing a Diabetic Friendly Meal” at the June 25 meeting.
Jamye Wisecup, from the emergency management unit of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office will present “Emergency Preparedness” at the July 23 meeting.
The center also hosts a You and Your New Baby support group meeting from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday in the hospital’s third-floor sun room.
The group does not have a formal agenda, instead each meeting focuses on the needs of the parents who have attended.
The center also hosts weekly Advance Care planning sessions in both Port Angeles and Sequim.
These sessions are designed to help people prepare for unexpected emergencies by clearly documenting their wishes for health care in advance of when they might need it.
A complete schedule of these meetings is available online at www.olympicmedical.org/advancecareplanning.
