Here is our earlier story:
PORT ANGELES — Law enforcement are searching for three burglary suspects — two men and a woman — in the Colville Road area of an unincorporated area southwest of Port Angeles. They are armed with stolen shotguns, according to Port Angeles Police Department.
“Residents in the area need to stay inside, report suspicious persons to 9-1-1. Expect helicopters and considerable police presence,” said Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith.
The suspects are described as a Native American male, a “skinny” white male and a female wearing a red-white-and-black zip-up sweatshirt.
A second woman was initially reported by a witness to the burglary, but police have been unable to confirm the presence of a fourth person, said Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin.
Officers and police dogs from the Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, State Patrol, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Lower Elwha Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol are searching from a command post set up at the intersection of Colville and Dan Kelly roads.
Two helicopters from the Border Patrol were searching the area, and at 2:15 p.m., two tracking dogs and several teams of tactical trackers in camouflage uniforms, carrying assault weapons, were deployed to the search area.
Police had reported this morning that two burglars wearing hooded sweatshirts took at least two firearms from a Cherry Street residence at about 9:30 a.m.
One of the burglars pointed a weapon at homeowner Dean Langdon, 39, of Port Angeles, who arrived as they left the house, he said.
Langdon said the four fled westbound.
Pgave chase until the suspects abandoned their burgundy Pontiac on Colville Road, west of the Elwha River and south of state Highway 112.
