PORT ANGELES — A thief crashed through a fence with a stolen Toyota pickup truck, and the owners of the dealership and the Port Angeles Police Department are working to get it back — and the .22 semiautomatic rifle that was in it.
The truck was stolen from Gray Motors Inc., 1937 E. First St., between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., Gray Motors wrote on the company’s Facebook site.
The thief “took a truck and drove it out through our gate ‘Mad Max’ style,” crashing through a closed and locked gate Friday, the Facebook caption said.
Missing was a green 1994 Toyota 4-wheel-drive pickup with alloy wheels, tinted windows and 31-inch mud tires, a red “Strait Tek” sticker on the windshield and Washington dealer license plate 0043.
A Marlin .22 rifle was reported to be in the truck when it was stolen, said Cpl. Tom Cook,of the Port Angeles Police Department.
Anyone sees the truck or knows anything about the theft was asked to phone Port Angeles police at 360-452-4545.
The truck has been seen several times since the theft and is being used by someone to drive around town, Cook said.
However, there are no suspects identified in the theft, he said.
Cook said the theft does not seem to be part of any pattern, and that there is no recent increase in vehicle thefts.
