PORT ANGELES — Police today reported that the silver Pontiac was found on Penn Street, not far from where it was taken at Wendy’s restaurant early Saturday.
The car was abandoned, and there was no sight of the robber.

PORT ANGELES — Law enforcement agencies were on the lookout for a silver 2006 Pontiac Torrent five-door crossover, Washington license plate 943VAM, that was stolen at knifepoint early Saturday morning from a parking lot near Wendy’s restaurant on East First Street.
Port Angeles police received the call of an armed robbery just before 2 a.m. from a woman leaving the eatery at 1830 E. First St., Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said.
The woman, whom police did not identify, told officers that an “older” man, roughly 6 feet tall and slender, approached her as she was walking to her car and demanded her purse while threatening her with a small folding knife, Smith said.
The man struck the woman with his hand when she refused to give up her purse, Smith said.
He then grabbed the purse, got into her car and drove it west on Front Street.
“We were unable to track down the vehicle in the early morning hours,” Smith said.
The woman told police that the man got away with cash, a cellphone, car keys and other personal items that were in the handbag, Smith said.
Police were reviewing video- surveillance footage from surrounding businesses to see if any cameras caught the incident on tape, Smith said.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Border Patrol, have been given the description of the woman’s car, which is now listed as stolen, Smith said.
“We’re obviously looking for the vehicle,” he said.

Crime Stoppers offers a standing $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in a felony case, such as robbery, Smith said.
