PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after crashing his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 101 about four miles east of Sequim on Monday.
Davey J. Sanders Jr., 43, was eastbound on Highway 101 near Woods Road (MIlepost 271) at about 4 p.m. when he hit the brakes on his gray 1995 Honda VF750 motorcycle after failing to note a pickup truck that was slowing and pulling into the left turn lane, the State Patrol said.
Sanders “went left around the pickup and laid down the motorcycle, sliding across the westbound lanes” before stopping on the highway’s westbound shoulder, the Patrol’s accident report said.
A Harborview spokeswoman listed him in “serious and improving” condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Tuesday.
