Incumbent Mike Chapman and his Republican challenger, Maggie Roth, are the two top vote-getters in the primary race for Commissioner District 2.
Clallam County District Court Judge Erik Rohrer and court commissioner Chris Melly lead the way for the Clallam County Superior Court judge position opened by the retirement of Judge Ken Williams. Incumbent Superior Court judges George Wood and Brooke Taylor each ran unopposed in the primary.
The Port Angeles bond proposition for Civic Field is short of the 60 percent supermajority needed for approval. The proposition would authorize city officials ti improve and renovate Civic Field, including replacing the grass field with synthetic turf, install a lighting system, install a new boiler and make other capital improvements, renovations and upgrades.
The Sequim measure for a 0.1% “public safety” sales tax is passing and seems headed for approval. The money from the sales tax increase would support public safety facilities including a Police Station, Combined Emergency Operations Disaster Center and Public services such as police patrol, crime prevention, police equipment replacement and associated support services.
