Incumbent Clallam County Commissioner Steve Tharinger has apparently won his re-election bid over his GOP challenger, Sue Forde.
Tharinger saw his bid for re-election strengthened by hundreds of votes Friday following a second round of ballot counting from Tuesday’s all-mail election.
There was only one change as a result of Friday’s count of late-arriving mail ballots.
An amendment to the county’s charger that would have elected county commissioners by district, rather than countywide, is being defeated by voters.
After Tuesday night’s ballot count, the measure was being approved by a margin of 176 votes.
Friday’s count showed the amendment losing by 513 votes.
In the first election of a county community development director anywhere, former county building official Rob Robertsen widened his lead over the present appointed director, Bob Martin, by 713 votes after Friday’s vote.
