FORKS — A 20-year-old Forks woman died after she was struck by a car at about 2:30 this morning.
The woman was identified as Mary Cram, a longtime Forks resident who now lives in Port Angeles.
She was walking on East Division Street about a mile east of Forks City Hall, he said.
A vehicle with two brothers inside struck her, and they then took her to Forks Community Hospital. She was pronounced dead while being flown to Port Angeles, Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said.
The car was driven by Travis Germeaux, 29, of Forks. The passenger was his brother, Matt Germeaux, 24, according to Peregrin.
Cram was reportedly Matt Germeaux’s girlfriend, according to Forks residents. Peregrin could not immediately confirm the connection.
Travis Germeaux was being held for questioning and was expected to be officially booked in Port Angeles later today.
Peregrin quoted the driver as saying the striking of Cram with the vehicle was an accident.
“It is very likely that alcohol was involved,” Peregrin said.
The incident was still under investigation. The portion of East Division Street is in unincorporated Clallam County jurisdiction.
