PORT TOWNSEND— The M/V Salish is back in service on the Port Townsend-Coupeville route and will take over the 1:15 p.m. sailing.
A computer screen would not turn on this morning as crews prepared for the day’s first sailing out of Port Townsend, so the ferry was taken out of service.
The screen has been replaced and the ferry is back plying the route, which restores two-boat service, Ian Sterling, Washington State Ferry spokesman, said at about 12:45 p.m. today.
Reservations, which were put on hold until the repair was made, are now being taken.
Passengers who did not show up during the time the ferry was out of service will not be assessed a cancellation fee.
The problem on the Salish was the second setback this week on the route.
The M/V Kennewick was taken out of service Tuesday because of propeller failure and was repaired and back in service on Wednesday.
The Kennewick had left Port Townsend for the 8:45 a.m. sailing, and operators detected the problem while it was still in the harbor.
It returned to the dock and unloaded its passengers, who were rode the next available ferry.
