PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police were looking Thursday for a 27-year-old man after a stabbing in the area of Lincoln High School.
Stephen B. Gierke of Port Angeles, 27, is being sought for investigation of second-degree assault in the 800 block of South A Street and for an unrelated felony warrant, said Patrol Sgt. Jason Viada.
An unidentified man was stabbed in the face in the area of South A and West Eighth streets, Viada said.
The wound apparently proved to be superficial. Viada said the man was treated by Port Angeles Fire Department medical personnel, with no transport to a hospital.
The stabbing victim was not a student, Viada added.
The stabbing prompted a lockdown of the school for less than an hour.
Emergency dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call at 1:40 p.m. reporting a man had been stabbed in the face.
Investigators said the stabbing was the result of an argument between Gierke, who was a pedestrian, and the occupants of a vehicle the victim was in, Viada said.
Viada said there are no other suspects in the case.
Lincoln High, located about two blocks from the initial reported location of the assault, was briefly put on lockdown while police responded.
Gierke is 6-foot-2, weighs about 220 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair, according to police.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gierke is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
