PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman who was hit by a car in a downtown crosswalk was listed in stable condition Thursday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The Port Angeles Police Department identified the woman as Kelli Antolock, 52, a Port Angeles resident.
Just after 7 p.m. Wednesday, Antolock was walking an Australian shepherd dog on the south side of West Front Street and was crossing in the North Oak Street crosswalk when she was hit by a black Ford pickup truck turning left onto Oak, witnesses said.
“When officers arrived at the scene, the pedestrian was found conscious but unresponsive,” said Brian Smith, deputy chief of police.
Port Angeles Fire Department took Antolock by ambulance to the Olympic Medical Center. She was then transported to Harborview for advanced trauma treatment.
Danial C. Cowles, 40, of Port Angeles, driver of the pickup truck, was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and for not yielding to a pedestrian, Smith said.
One lane of West Front Street was closed for about 20 minutes while the injured woman was treated and the investigation was completed.
The dog ran from the scene, and police have no record of the dog being found.
