UPDATE: The Port Townsend PD was able to locate the subject with the help of citizens who had been given a missing person flier earlier in the morning. The male was well and unharmed. He was united with his family.
PORT TOWNSEND — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a man last seen on Feb. 20.
Ralph Theodore Schuder was reported missing today from his home in the 700 block of T Street.
Schuder, who goes by the name of Ted, was last seen around noon Saturday when his daughter spoke to him via phone.
Police responded to Schuder’s residence and found his only vehicle was parked there and the home was locked. Police entered the home and found he was not there. There were indications he may have left the residence on foot, wearing sandals and no jacket.
Schuder is 77 years old, 5′ 10” and 160 pounds. His eyes are blue.
His hair is gray, cut just below his shoulders and often worn in a pony tail.
He has a large scar on one of his knees and a larger nose due to older breaks.
Schuder wears a medical bracelet on one of his wrists.
According to his daughter, Schuder lives alone and does not really have friends and family locally. He is known to suffer from dementia and has given indications that this condition has worsened lately.
In addition, he is reported to suffer from a heart condition and may be depressed. Ralph takes medications and is believed to have left them at home, based on officer observations in the residence.
Schuder reportedly likes nature and is known to take walks. He likes the Fort Worden State Park area, beaches, and the downtown area of Port Townsend. It is believed he may have gone for a walk and become confused and lost as a result.
