JOYCE — A Joyce man died Wednesday evening while apparently trying to save his wife’s life with CPR after she collapsed, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The 60-year-old man, who phoned 9-1-1 at 9:49 p.m. to report that his wife had a heart attack, was found slumped over her body when medics and deputies arrived at the home no more than eight minutes later, Sgt. John Keegan said.
Neither could be revived. The woman was 59.
The couple were identified Saturday as Charles and Geraldine Lorme.
Keegan said Charles Lorme died of natural causes, possibly a heart attack.
He was apparently performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mrs. Lorme when he died, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Keegan called the incident strange but said no foul play is suspected.
“Usually events like this don’t happen in pairs,” he said.
The couple lived on state Highway 112 about 10 miles west of the junction with U.S. Highway 101.
