SEATTLE — Seattle Mariners’ right-hander Felix Hernandez has agreed to a multi-year contract, according to a report by ESPN.com at http://tinyurl.com/ykqd52b .
The Mariners’ own Web site, http://tinyurl.com/ya49uv9 , all but confirms the five-year deal, saying it’s in the neighborhood of $80 million
During the 2009 season, Hernandez set career highs in almost every category including wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and earned run average.
“King Felix” finished the season 19-5 with a 2.49 ERA and 217 strikeouts. He finished in the AL Cy Young Award behind Zack Greinke.
