PORT ANGELES — The United Way of Clallam County campaign fell short of its goal of $1,002,011, but organizers said they were pleased to have raised $830,000.
“A celebration is in order,” said Jody Moss, executive director.
“During one of the most challenging fundraising periods in memory, Clallam County community members have again shown their dedication towards building a better community and helping their friends and neighbors in need,” Moss said in a statement.
“The United Way of Clallam County will honor more than 100 volunteers and thousands of donors who helped with the 2011 campaign on Thursday, Feb. 16.”
Awards dinner
The United Way Campaign awards dinner and presentation on Feb. 16 will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant’s Juan de Fuca Room at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St.
The cost is $23 per person, and reservations are necessary.
Reservations for the event should be made no later than Tuesday.
While final figures won’t be announced until March 31, campaign co-chairs Tom and Jackie Baermann said the campaign had reached $830,000 as of this week.
Contributions toward the campaign received before March 31 will be included in the campaign’s final total.
The dinner is open to campaign volunteers, donors, United Way partner agencies and their volunteers, and any other interested persons.
