United Way of Clallam County moves into Lincoln Center

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District welcomes the United Way of Clallam County to the Lincoln Center.

The nonprofit relocated to the second floor of the center, 905 W. Ninth St., in mid-December.

According to Christy Smith, CEO of United Way of Clallam County, the move offers them three benefits: more space, lower rent and proximity to the school district offices.

According to Smith, education is one of the three pillars the United Way is based upon worldwide, the other two being the financial stability and the health of the community.

Martin Brewer, superintendent of Port Angeles schools, said of the move, “It is exciting to welcome United Way to the Lincoln Center. This partnership will allow us to work together to accomplish the common goals of the two organizations.”

United Way of Clallam County also works with Peninsula College to sponsor its GED program for students who did not complete high school, and it offers financial assistance to GED students who need help overcoming obstacles to completing the program.

The nonprofit’s old offices at 1601 E. Front St. have already been leased to the local nonprofit Concerned Citizens.
