United Way gives eight awards at annual event

SEQUIM — The United Way of Clallam County honored eight at its Live United Prom and Awards in Club 7 at the 7 Cedars Casino and Hotel.

The annual prom recognizes businesses, individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond in supporting United Way’s mission.

The prom raised more than $28,000 for local United Way programs.

The award recipients were:

• Tanya Holman, campaign volunteer. Holman’s dedication, positivity and genuine care for others make her a standout volunteer and an inspiration to all.

• Lara Stanton, board volunteer. Stanton’s reliability, generosity and infectious energy make her the perfect example of what it means to be a committed volunteer.

• Jeremy Gilchrist, community volunteer. Although employed by the Olympic Medical Center Foundation and the Washington Festivals and Events Association, Gilchrist always finds time to help the United Way. His generosity and know-how make him an invaluable volunteer.

• Sound Community Bank, community-minded business. Sound Community Bank has been a reliable partner, not just to United Way, but to so many local organizations across Clallam County.

• Forks Community Hospital, employee giving campaign. Year after year, the staff at Forks Community Hospital show their deep commitment to making a difference through their employee giving campaign. This year they exceeded their goal, raising more than $10,000 to support the causes that matter most to them and their neighbors.

• Healthy Families of Clallam County, healthy community. Healthy Families of Clallam County has been an advocate and resource for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and homelessness for more than 40 years.

• Peninsula College, financial security. Peninsula College is working to make education accessible to all through scholarships, career-focused programs and wraparound support services.

• The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, youth opportunity. The clubs are a safe haven for hundreds of young people across Clallam County, offering after-school and summer programs open to all children, regardless of ability to pay.

United Way raises money year-round to help fund nonprofit partner organizations that help keep families healthy and safe, kids in school and the most vulnerable get the services they need.
