PORT ANGELES — Volunteers will clean up the Port Angeles Dog Park from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today during the United Way of Clallam County’s first Day of Caring, a day before the agency’s campaign kickoff.
The dog park is at 1469-1737 W. Lauridsen Blvd.
Volunteers will clean up, mow, paint, repair and hedge areas. They should wear work clothes and bring gloves and rakes and shovels if they have them. Snacks and water will be provided.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, the United Way of Clallam County will host its 2019 Campaign Kick-Off at Barhop, 124 W. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles.
The free event will feature games and giveaways. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
The annual campaign raises funds for United Way members and for any charity designated by the giver. The 2018 campaign raised $824,328, exceeding its $800,000 goal.
On Saturday, the United Way continues Day of Caring with work parties in Port Angeles and Sequim.
Volunteers will undertake tasks to beautify the Port Angeles High School campus at 304 E. Park Ave. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Carrie Blake Park at 202 N. Blake Ave., Sequim will be cleaned up.
Volunteers are urged to wear proper clothing and work gloves. The United Way will provide snacks and water.
