United Way celebrates 2015 campaign volunteers, partners this Thursday in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — United Way of Clallam County will recognize its volunteers and partners during a Campaign Celebration awards dinner Thursday.

The campaign raised $726,353 this year. The money will be disbursed to partner organizations in the county and to other nonprofits designated by donors.

New offices

Volunteers and businesses also helped United Way move into new offices this year, said Corey Delikat, 2016 president and campaign chairman for United Way.

The taco bar dinner, with vegetarian, chicken and beef options, will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St.

Tickets for the dinner are $10 per person.

Christy Smith, United Way resource development manager, said about 20 tickets remained as of Tuesday.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, she said.

United Way’s goal for 2015 was $950,000. Last year, the campaign raised $780,000, Delikat said.

Recognition

At the celebration, 40 people will be recognized for their efforts, along with businesses where 100 percent of the employees donated to the campaign and several outstanding partner organizations that worked with United Way on the fundraising campaign.

The campaign drew 2,000 donors in 2015.

“That is a small number for Clallam County but a lot of money for a small number of donors. We’re pretty proud of that,” Smith said.

The campaign raises funds from September through November for local organizations that help support and improve life in Clallam County, she said.

Donors can designate that their donations be sent to nonprofit organizations in Clallam County, other locations across the U.S. and the world.

Smith said United Way of Clallam County has 24 partner agencies with which it shares fundraising efforts, both during the United Way campaign and during individual efforts by the agencies.

The dinner also will celebrate United Way’s new offices.

Special recognition will be given to Pacific Office Equipment, J&J Construction and Jayson Grice Construction, each of which helped with the new United Way offices at 1601 E. Front St., Delikat said.

Moved in February

United Way employees and volunteers completed the move in February while simultaneously working on the annual campaign fund, he said.
