Sequim — A Victoria man was severely injured in three-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 that sent six people to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles on Saturday evening.
Christopher S. Sherwood, 40, of Victoria, the driver of one of the vehicles, was transferred from OMC to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of extensive leg injuries, said Trooper Russ Snider, State Patrol spokesman.
Sherwood’s condition was not immediately available from Harborview.
Six others were treated at OMC and released for relatively minor injuries, hospital representative said.
Raymond U. Arndt, Jr., 34, of Port Angeles, who was injured in the accident, was treated at OMC and transported to Clallam County jail on suspicion of vehicular assault and driving under the influence of alcohol, said State Patrol Trooper Travis Snider.
At about 7:40 p.m. Arndt, driving a Saturn, was traveling eastbound Highway 101 approaching Palo Alto Road, three miles east of Sequim, Snider said.
Sherwood, driving a van with five passengers, and Randall F. Gregg, 61, of Port Angeles and one passenger were driving westbound, when Arndt’s Saturn cross the centerline, hitting Gregg’ vehicle, then striking Sherwood’s van head-on, according to troopers.
Gregg was not injured, Snider reported.
