PORT ANGELES — Two Port Angeles teenagers were arrested for investigation of residential burglary after a neighbor spotted the minors sneaking into an area where items from the home had been hidden.
The burglary was discovered by Priscilla Schafer, who was returning to her home at 2535 W. 10th St. in Port Angeles at about 9 a.m. Saturday, court documents said.
Port Angeles police officers said they found broken glass with a shoe print on it, furniture that had been knocked over and open cupboards in the house and a few items from the residence on a trail west of it, court documents said.
At about 2 p.m. Saturday, a neighbor had phoned police, saying he saw two girls walking around the bushes where alcohol, coins, bags and condoms were found.
Police arrested the two girls, whose names were withheld because they are minors.
A 15-year-old girl from Port Angeles was arrested on investigation of residential burglary, third degree theft, third degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest.
A fact-finding hearing has been set for March 4. On Thursday, she was still in custody because her parents declined to have her at home.
A 14-year-old girl, also of Port Angeles, was arrested at the same time on investigation of residential burglary, third degree theft and third degree malicious mischief.
A fact-finding hearing was set for April 1. She was released on her own recognizance into the custody of her father.
