QUINAULT — Two Quinault residents were listed in satisfactory condition Sunday, a day after a two-car collision at the junction of U.S. Highway 101 and state Highway 104 sent them to two different hospitals.
Harvest Moon Howell, 56, the driver of one of two pickup trucks involved in the wreck, was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend, where she was improving Sunday afternoon.
Howell, a well-known Quinault storyteller, had been scheduled to speak at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Klallam Earth Day Challenge at The Landing mall in Port Angeles.
Jason B. Christopherson, 28, a passenger in Howell’s 1989 Toyota truck, was in satisfactory condition Saturday after being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following the 11 a.m. wreck Saturday.
Stable in Seattle
He had been released from the intensive care unit and was in satisfactory condition Sunday afternoon, according to the Harborview nursing supervisor.
The State Patrol said the wreck was caused by a “failure to yield,” by Steven E. Miller, 54, of Tukwila, who was driving a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.
Miller was not injured.
