Two North Olympic Peninsula agencies are sharing in a $695,000 settlement between the state Attorney General’s Office and Medco Health Solutions Inc.
The PAARC Clinic, a free clinic in Port Angeles, and Jefferson Healthcare, the public hospital district, in Port Townsend each will get $10,000 from the settlement, Attorney General Christine Gregoire said Wednesday in a statement.
Gregoire’s Consumer Protection Division, along with similar offices from 19 other states, reached a $20.2 million settlement with pharmacy benefit manager Medco in April. At issue was full disclosure of information that patients, doctors and drug companies needed to make decisions about which prescription drugs to use.
The settlement provided a one-time grant opportunity in Washington for community health clinic contractors, free clinics, rural public hospital districts and not-for-profit hospitals, Gregoire said. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $30,000.
