PORT HADLOCK — Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection with a string burglaries throughout Jefferson County during the past months, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Using information and evidence gathered at the burglary scenes, sheriff’s deputies and detectives arrested Niles Shroyer, 20, of Port Hadlock and Austin Thacker, 18, of Port Townsend, Undersheriff Tim Perry said.
Perry said both men confessed to recent burglaries in Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock and Port Townsend.
The Sheriff’s Office is in the process of serving search warrants to recover items stolen in some of the burglaries, he said.
Shroyer posted bail on Wednesday, but Thacker remained in the Jefferson County jail in Port Hadlock.
Other arrests
Last week, sheriff’s deputies arrested two additional men, Joseph Gaikowski, 21, of Port Townsend and Anthony Shea, 20, of Port Hadlock in connection with a burglary in Quilcene and are still being investigated for a possible connection with the unusually high number of recent burglaries and attempted burglaries at businesses and homes in Jefferson County, Perry said.
The arrests of all four men is expected to clear at least 20 burglaries, Perry said.
The investigation will concentrate on determining if others are involved, he added.
The Sheriff’s Office will be coordinating its investigation with the Port Townsend Police Department, Perry said.
