QUILCENE — Two men were taken to hospitals following a collision on U.S. Highway 101 at Leland Cutoff Road.
Fredrick Tuso, 78, of Brinnon was traveling northbound in a 1999 Mercedes CLK on Highway 101 at 12:08 p.m. Sunday and attempted to turn left onto Leland Cutoff Road without yielding to southbound traffic, the State Patrol said.
Thomas J. Wolinski, 30, of Brinnon struck the Mercedes in his 1998 Toyota Rav4 while he was traveling southbound on the highway, the State Patrol said.
Fredrick was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in satisfactory condition Monday morning, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.
Wolinski was transported to Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, the State Patrol said.
The Mercedes came to rest in the embankment off Leland Cutoff Road while the Toyota fully blocked the road, the State Patrol said.
Both men wore seat belts. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles were totally destroyed and towed from the scene.
