LAKE SUTHERLAND — Hours after Jeffrey Porter signed papers Friday to sell his Carlsborg charter vehicle business, PennCo Transportation, he got the telephone call he had dreaded for six years.
One of his drivers, James A. Engstrom of Sequim, had died in a head-on collision that also claimed the life of the other motorist.
“Last night was my worst fear come true,” Porter said Saturday after the crash.
Engstrom, 66, a part-time driver for the company for almost two years, was returning late Friday night from shuttling a client to Forks when his vehicle collided with a car driven by Daniel A. Bremnes, 46, of Neah Bay, in the eastbound lane.
Bremnes, who was westbound, was also killed.
