Two join board of Jefferson Healthcare Foundation

PORT TOWNSEND — Beth Bradley and Helen Marriott have joined the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation.

Bradley has served as executive director, chief fundraiser and writer for the nonprofit arts, academia and health care.

Representative employers include the Arts & Business Council for Greater Los Angeles, Western States Arts Federation, University of California at Irvine and Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Bradley consults and leads workshops on mission-inspired fundraising, volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

Now a resident of Port Townsend, she is completing a primer on board leadership.

Bradley is a member of the American Association of University Women and the Association of Fundraising Professionals and has served on numerous local, regional and national boards and advisory panels.

She is the recipient of the 11th annual L.A. Artcore Award and was honored with a Eureka Communities Leadership Fellowship.

Bradley holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a life teaching certificate from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Marriott

Marriott, born and raised in Port Townsend, attended Seattle University and New York’s Tobe/Coburn School for Fashion Merchandising and Retail.

She worked at Frederick & Nelson department store and I. Magnin before retiring to raise her children.

Marriott managed the events gift shop for the Seattle Opera Society’s “Designer Show House” fundraiser.

She did displays of rare, public, special textile art collections presented at the Museum of History and Industry and co-chaired the Seattle Art Museum’s four-day “Antique Road Show” style fundraising event.

She also managed the Jefferson Healthcare Auxiliary gift shop for 10 years.

Her father, Dr. Harry Plut, practiced from 1934 to the late 1970s.

He delivered thousands of babies, including her husband, David Marriott.

The hospital’s Family Birth Center was named after him. In addition, Plut and his partners donated the money to build the hospital’s cafeteria.

Her mother, Dorothy Plut, a nurse, founded the Jefferson Healthcare Auxiliary many years ago and was active in raising funds for the hospital until she died at age 97.

They are expected to attend the Sept. 14 Evening of Hope fundraiser at Fort Worden Commons. Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) with the mission of supporting Jefferson Healthcare by fostering philanthropic efforts to improve the health, wellness and vitality of Jefferson County residents.
