Two charged in burglaries, break-in

PORT ANGELES — Two men were charged Thursday for their alleged roles in a pair of residential burglaries and a break-in at Mister Buds marijuana shop early Monday.

Isaiah A. Hylton, 19, of Port Angeles and Johntay W. Tolliver, 19, of Bremerton each were charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree possession of stolen property, third-degree possession of stolen property and vehicle prowl.

Port Angeles police also alleged that Hylton and Tolliver took property from a vehicle that was parked on the 500 block of West 10th Street and a garage on the 1000 block of West 14th Street early Monday.

Police alleged that Hylton used a hammer to break into the retail cannabis store at 536 Marine Drive and that Tolliver drove a getaway vehicle after the 5:15 a.m. break-in.

Items in safe

No cash or marijuana product was taken from Mister Buds because the items were locked in a safe the previous night, store owner Malik Atwater said in a Monday interview.

Hylton and Tolliver were arrested in a Ford Mustang at the corner of Ninth and E streets at 9:44 a.m. Monday, police said.

The Mustang, which had no rear window and two types of wheels, was seen on surveillance video near Mr. Buds at the time of the break-in, police said.

Bicycle found

Police found credit cards and a bicycle that were reported as stolen in the Mustang, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour set Hylton’s bail at $50,000 Tuesday. Tolliver’s bail was set at $25,000.

Hylton and Tolliver will be arraigned next Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.
